Now let’s learn some different types of poker other than hold’em, 7 card stud, 5 card draw and Omaha. Yes, double-hand poker. Now you must be thinking that pai gow sounds a bit Chinese; well you’re right, this casino game is a mixture of the Chinese game pai gow and poker
Clearly this isn’t one of the most popular forms of poker but still widely played. It can be enjoyed by up to 7 players. It is played with 1 deck of cards, plus a joker. Interestingly, joker can only be used as an ace, or to complete a straight, flush, straight flush, or a royal flush. The critical detail here to remember is aside from the typical ranking of hands we have one more winning hand that is "Five Aces" (four Aces and the Joker). Surprisingly, five aces is greater than all other hand yes, even a royal flush. Each player is dealt 7 cards. These cards are arranged to create two hands; a 2 card hand and a five card hand. The five card hand has to be stronger or be equal to the two card hand.
After arranging the 2 hands, the cards are positioned on the table with the faces down. Once on the table, you are no longer allowed to change them. The croupier will turn over his cards and make their hands. Every players hand is played against the croupier’s hands. Should the player take 1 hand and loses the other, this is known as "push" and absolutely no cash is exchanged. If dealer wins the two hands then the player looses their wager and vice versa. Now if there is a tie, the dealer wins everything. Once the hand is competed, the next player clock-wise gets to be the croupier and the following hand is dealt.
